Travel Light

Letting go of the past is the best way to move forward in life.

Life is a journey.   Guilt, regrets and what we consider bad experiences of the past load up our suitcase.  It’s no wonder we are so tired.  It’s no wonder we’ve lost our sense of adventure.

But like on any journey, we must carry a map to guide us, something to protect us from unexpected storms and something to help us bandage the scrapes and falls we take along the way.

So, while letting go is good advice, holding on to the things that worked, the happy memories, the recollection of having conquered in the past are things we should pack in our suitcase as we continue along on the road less travelled.

What did you do that made you happy in the past but you stopped doing because life got in the way?

Here’s a sample list of things to help spark your journey back to yourself:

Write, play the guitar, get out into nature, meditate, daydream, sing, pray, listen to relaxation and meditation tapes, read.

Here’s are the things you should shed:

Regret, comparing yourself to others, letting noise crowd out the small voice inside, fear that time is passing by too quickly, fear of the future.

You get the idea.

Now do it.

I've been in a writer long enough to know that change is not only inevitable, it's what keeps us going. Don't fight it, don't fear it. Embrace it and have fun.
